frequently asked questions

Is ketamine legal?

Ketamine is currently the only FDA-approved legal psychedelic medication.

In fact, because of ketamine’s long-established use cases, modern practitioners have a deep understanding of how to use ketamine safely.

What form of ketamine do you prescribe?

OORA uses rapid dissolving tablets (RDTs), which are held in the mouth for direct oral absorption and removed after a point of maximum absorption.

We work with our partner pharmacy that ships the medication directly to your home but may send the prescription to a pharmacy of your choice.

How often do I have to take the medication?

Most ketamine providers suggest a series of 6 experiences over the course of a 3 week period.

However, we believe that every individual is unique and believe in patient autonomy so you and your OORA clinician may decide a different dosing protocol appropriate for you.

How does Ketamine Therapy work for mental health?

Ketamine works differently from traditional antidepressants.

It targets the NMDA receptors in the brain, potentially leading to rapid mood improvement and neurogenesis, helping to alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Who is eligible for Ketamine Therapy?

Ketamine therapy is often considered for individuals with treatment-resistant depression, severe anxiety, PTSD, and certain chronic pain conditions.

A thorough evaluation by a healthcare provider is necessary to determine eligibility.

How quickly does Ketamine Therapy work?

Many patients report improvements in their symptoms within hours to days after treatment, which is significantly faster than most traditional antidepressants that can take weeks to become effective.

How long do the effects of Ketamine Therapy last?

The duration of ketamine’s effects varies.

Some patients experience relief from symptoms for weeks to months after a series of treatments.

Ongoing maintenance sessions may be recommended for sustained benefits.

Will I need to continue my current mental health medications if I start Ketamine Therapy?

It’s essential to consult with your healthcare provider before making any changes to your current medication regimen.

Ketamine therapy may be used in conjunction with other treatments.
